Ellana Pressed Mineral Foundation and Blush Duo | First Impressions
Consider me purist when it comes to mineral makeup. Purist meaning, I prefer them in powder state. So unlike most of you, I wasn't as thrilled when I saw movements of mineral makeup brands going to pressed formulations. Since I have had my share of education when it comes to cosmetics, pressing cosmetics usually means more ingredients, losing what makes an MMU great.
I use to find people asking for pressed version of mineral makeup frivolous and lazy. When there are ways to make things easier to handle them. I just think that it comes with the experience. After all, you are getting pure and raw pigments that really do great things for your skin. A little effort in the upkeep shouldn't be too much.
But you guys are lucky! Ellana Minerals heeded all the countless requests to recreate a pressed version of their best-selling mineral makeup foundations and other products. And they revamped the whole brand beautifully, in chic eco-friendly packaging that you'll love taking along with you. More after the jump..
I finally got my loot and I'm quite impressed. The consistency is still the same. Coverage-wise, I still get the same results sans the flying powder all around. Which I now consider quite a refreshing change from how I use regular mineral makeup before. I'm glad that Ellana kept the integrity of the mineral makeup without having to resort to chemical ingredients and still provide answers to our requests.

I still prefer applying Ellana mineral foundation with a flat top brush or kabuki brush. But if you want less mess and more pigmentation, sponge is a good choice. The consistency is slightly powdery when used with a brush but not as messy compared to the traditional powder form.
I'm just joyfully relieved that the consistency, texture and finish is still the same. :)

I could always rely on Ellana with the consistency of the shades. :) Hazelnut Latte is still my shade. Although right now, French Vanilla also matches well to my skintone.

One of my new fave is this blush duo in Kitten and Peach Passion. It's so girly, it's so me! :)
Consistency is similar to the traditional mineral blush. Very pigmented. You would need a light hand when applying this. The light shade of this peach-pink blush will compliment a lot of skin tone. Mine just loves it! Peach Passion is a subtle nude peach blush that can double as a highlighter or contour depending on your skin tone.

They have accomplished a tough feat and did so with flying colors. :) Definitely recommending these, especially to friends who are extremely discerning when it comes to their cosmetics.
