Grab your Meralco Bill! It's lower than ever!


Great news, loves!

 I don't know about you but receiving my meralco bill monthly feels like I'm receiving my class cards in subjects I know I didn't do so well. In my case, we use aircon a lot longer given I have two children that gets easily irrate when the weather is too hot. We also live in condominiuLm complex fronting the sunrise that makes us uncomfortable in the afternoon. We trly work so hard in order to meet the demands we need from our basic needs.

 Thank God that Meralco is being purdent and a lot more strategic in sourcing our power. This month, February of 2020, we are actually going to experience lower bill rates compared to the previous months. The overall rate for a typical household consuming 200kWh decreased by P0.59 to P8.86 per kilowatt hour (kWh), its lowest level in two years, from last month’s P9.45 per kWh. Such a household will see a decrease of around P118 for their total electricity bill this month.

How amazing is that. This is great news for anyone who are paying their Meralco bills!

 Why is this? Like I said, Meralco is doing the best they can to lower the cost of electricity and that mean sourcing it from different companies. Thankfully, San Miguel Energy Corporation, South Premiere Power Corporation, and AC Energy, charges lower generation cost! This is the second month we will be experiencing this. That means more savings and we can do more for our family with the extra budget!

These lower prices from the new PSAs and the WESM—which accounted for 44% of the total supply—offset the cost of power from Meralco’s Independent Power Producers and old PSAs, which increased to P5.29 per kWh.

With these new PSAs providing lower generation costs, we can expect consistently low power bills with energy-efficient use of appliances and devices at home, allowing for a bigger budget for other household and family needs.

As you can see, there is significant change in February compared to the previous month. But also January showed lower generation cost.

That is why it's so important to change your appliences to a better model with a more energy-efficient functions. I see this also when we can't our air conditioning unit and refrigerator. The investment is worth it given how much we use these everyday.

And let's not discount the fact that Filipinos have been consciously aware of saving energy. So this Summer, Meralco encourages us to continue practicing energy efficiency initiatives at home to help manage their electricity consumption, such as:

- Such as unplugging appliances when not in use to avoid “phantom load”
- Using the aircon at mid-setting or at 25 degrees Celsius
- Using a power board or strip which can supply power to several appliances at once
- Maximizing natural light during daytime
- Keeping appliances well-maintained to ensure optimal performance




Though I'm sure my energy comsumption is still bigger than my neighbor, I believe seeing the charges now won't be as daunting as before! I actually feel lighter paying my electric bill and I'm more than confident that Meralco will continue to do their best to offer us the best rates. But also I need to more conscious in saving energy.
