Review | Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation (ALL SHADES with Swatches)

I had a lot of fun testing and swatching Maybelline's Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation. It's their newest foundation. I was so excited to get all 5 shades that I decided to do a video swatching to figure out what shade suit my skin. Maybelline is quite excited to launch this since it has the widest range of shades that really matches Pinay skin. Finally!

Come on, watch the video and check out if we have the same shade!

Maybelline's Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation has a creamy texture that reminds me a lot of their phased-out Dream Mousse Foundation that came in glass pot. I definitely prefer the latter with its easy to blend and meld formulation. The cream didn't feel draggy on my skin nor was it hard to spread evenly. To be honest, it felt as of Maybelline simply improved the texture of the foundation since both has that soft velvety matte finish.

A damp sponge like my Nippon Pro Blending Sponge worked the best with this formulation though the warm pads of my ring and middle fingers did an awesome job as well.

Morena beauties with golden skin tone will love theshade selection of this line though I worry quite a bit that the sandy beige is the lightest shade in this line.

What to love about Maybelline?
  1. Great selection of shades for morena skin.
  2. Easy to blend using fingers, damped sponge.
  3. Provides medium to heavy coverage
  4. Leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
  5. Tube-type packaging is hygenic and travel-friendly
  6. Formula feels nice and velvety as promised
  7. Great at reducing oiliness
  8. Covers pores depending on preferred coverage
What Maybelline can improve on
  1. May feel a little heavy on the skin if you applied too much\
  2. Using a regular foundation brush could leaves streak marks. Use a flattop of blending sponge

Here are the swatches!

Here is my shade, Sandy Beige. From all the available colors, this one suitedme best. Though Nude came close, I prefer Sandy Beige for it's red-correcting yellow undertone.

Nude is pretty much a fair-medium neutral. It's not exactly light to soothe ultra-fair skin but it would definitely sui those with fair neutral skin tone.

For someone whose been wishing to have more shades available for Filipinas, I was a bit scared that that Pure Beige, Natural Beige and Nude are too much. But I trust Maybelline knows what they are doing and what they do is give the best for Pinays.

Pure Beige is that NC30-35 ish shade that seemed to be missing in a lot of foudantion selection in many counter. I swear I could pull this shades 203 years ago when I was actively going to the beach and spending more time outdoors.

Natural Beige is not as dark as it looks in the photo. I kind of think I can pull this shade. It's warm and has that right amount of yellow undertone in it to evne out any complexion.

Honey Beige is reserved to our golden-toned morena friends. I used this as a contour base and it's love! Di masyadong mahriap i-blend.

And for the verdict!

On the left, I only have the foundation on and Maybelline Dream Velvet successfully made my skin look clear, velvety-smooth.

On the right was my full face done! Love the coverage of this foundation.

O di ba? Pwede ng rumapa!!

  1. I just found out about this product a while ago and the texture is great! But I have oily skin, so I'm hesitant to try it. :( how did the oil control work out on you? :D
