Mascara Review: L'Oreal Voluminious Million Lashes Excess (Photos and Swatches)
Time to reveal what mystery mascara that gave me really long and voluminous lashes!
It's the L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess!
This is newest member of their best-selling L'Oréal Voluminous mascara line that promises bolder, dramatic lashes than ever! All because of the revamped Millionizer brush wand that gives that clean, clump-free lashes.
To tell you the truth, mascaras are one the least things that excites me in the makeup department, I mean what else can they do with mascaras right. But as I was swiping the L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess and noticed how well the formula coats my lashes evenly, consider me wowed.
Mascara is the last thing I apply in my makeup routine just because I hate getting powder on it! What I usually do is leave it out til I have to book my Uber ride so that gives me an ample amount of time to experiment and see how well it would give me that wide-awake brighter eyes effect. The bane of my existence right now is sleepless nights (typing this at 12:25 pm) and droopy eyes so I rely heavily on my mascara to perk my look up. And boy how perky my eyes were with the L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess!
And quite surprisingly, too, since I'm not a fan of big brushes! The L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess comes with a curvy wand - about an inch and half in length. It's made with plastic with short and long bristles. It's a bit wiggly and floppy that needs getting used to. What I got is the Blackest black 459 but I still won't consider it the blackest mascara I own. If there is a muted black, I'd describe it as that or it's a dark grey. Basta hindi siya black na black. LOL!
If you have eyes like mine and your lashes are long but thin, then you'll certainly enjoy L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess. It's like collagen for your lashes! I was quite happy that there was none of that spider-legs effect or too much clumping that I usually associate with bigger wands. I think this brush really goes well for people with bigger eyes, almond and deep set eyes. I'm not exactly sure how Asian eyes or those with hooded eyes will feel about this mascara since the wand is quite big and may transfer on the lid if you're not careful.
The overall look is pretty impressive. My eyes looked brighter and the even coating made it appear as if i'm born with thick long lashes!
TIP: To avoid them looking spidery, you have to learn how to curl your lashes well. Like really really well. This kind of mascara will not look great on stick straight lashes. This is what I noticed with some of the reviews I've read about this mascara.
This is the first time I saw L'Oréal come out with a red packaging in their mascara line. I think it's nice introduction to their Infallible line since it just came out here in the Philippines recently. I also like that their adding colors to their packaging but not losing that luxe feel we all love from this brand. Because there is nothing more we want but an affordable makeup in pretty packaging.
The wand is huge but I like that the shape allows for nicer this false-lashes effect.
I like to wiggle the brushes because the curve kind of takes out and add the formula where my lashes need them. The consistency is creamy! It's just right for me. I presume the formula will get drier as I continue to use it but right now it's in that sweet spot that I like!
Comparing the L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess (left) to its big sister L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes, it is relatively longer and has a curve that fits to the lash line.
bare lashes! |
Another thing to note is that I like to wiggle the wand on my upper lash lines. Yes, I use mascara to coat these sensitive parts as it stay on longer than a pencil and it doesn't give me raccoon eyes. It's not as scary as you think and with L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess' soft bristles, it was quite easy to apply it. So if you'll notice, the white of my upper lash line is not as visible here.
And like I mentioned on my TIP, curl your lashes well for that clean effect sans spidery.
I curled my right lashes pretty well in this look but the right is slightly wonky.
What I love about L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess
Really gives volume and length
Coats lashes evenly
No clumping and spider legs effect
Maintains the curls til you remove the mascara
Doesn't weigh down lashes
Water-proof!
Easy to remove with an eye makeup remover (I use Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil right now)
Very much comfortable to wear all day
Gives that effect that I'm blessed with long and thick lashes
Affordability (around P700)
Perfect for those with thin and sparse lashes!
What not to love
The brush wand takes getting used to
May not be for every eye shape
Given all of these great points, I suggest picking this up if you can! Given how fast they come out with collections lately, better to get this while it is still in counters.
