Pinoy Spotlight: Palor (Philippine Christmas Lantern)
Parol is the Philippine Christmas Lantern that simply symbolizes the star of Bethlehem. It was adapted from the Chinese lantern and Mexican Piniata, made from pretty much same materials of Japanese Paper and Bamboo sticks. When households starts hanging parols on their window, rest assured that Chistmas spirit is in the air.
Through the years, Palors have improved. Now, most parols have lights in them flickering in endless twinkle. Some with different colors while others show minimal lights. In gigantic proportions to smaller one.
Of course, I notice tht R and I were maturing when we decided to buy our first Parol ever at Gilmore St (We truly are growing up!). We decided to settle for a parol with various light exhibitions, a bit steep but what the heck. :)
Gilmore St. at 2 a.m. Most are close But Kuya Sato was nice enough to accomodate R and I with our drunk friends (we came from dinner and drinks before this).
my first choice
the winner! simple yet very very sparkly... it lit up our part of our street. :)
Though my Christmas will never be the same, It will forever be Merry...
So, what's your favorite christmas decoration? :) Mine is actually the Christmas tree because that is where the gifts are! lol!

ReplyDeleteI make 1 large parol every year. This is one of my family's Christmas traditions. It reminds me of Christmas when I was still young.
I would love to hear from you!
